About the Buffalo to Vaughan trip
Visitors head to Vaughan for family in Woodbridge and Maple, Vaughan Mills, Canada's Wonderland in summer, and offices around the subway terminus at the VMC. The drive from Buffalo is about 108 miles (174 km), roughly 2 hours 10 minutes without traffic or the border.
We pick you up at BUF arrivals or anywhere in Buffalo, such as Cheektowaga, Williamsville or Amherst, and drive the QEW and the 427 or 400 north into Vaughan. Drop-off can be Vaughan Mills, Canada's Wonderland, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg or offices at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, or any address you give us.
Canada's Wonderland is a summer favourite; on busy weekends Hwy 400 around it slows down, so we plan around that.

Route and timing
- The 427 and 400 heading north into Vaughan are busy on weekday afternoons; Friday evenings are slowest.
- Holiday weekends in either country, and summer Friday afternoons, usually mean longer bridge lines. Tell us if you're travelling then.
- Leaving Buffalo, the bridges are only minutes from downtown, so the border is the first part of the trip rather than the last.
Border crossing, passports & NEXUS
- There are two good crossings on the way to Vaughan: the Peace Bridge from downtown Buffalo to Fort Erie, and the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge north of Niagara Falls. Your driver checks the waits before choosing.
- Entering Canada, you'll answer a few questions from the CBSA officer at the booth, such as where you're going and how long you're staying.
- Heading to Vaughan, every traveller needs ID that Canada accepts. A valid passport is recommended, and NEXUS cards and US enhanced driver's licences are also accepted. Bring a document the US accepts for your return trip too.
- The NEXUS lane can only be used when every person in the vehicle, including the driver, is a NEXUS member; otherwise we time your Buffalo pickup for the regular lanes.
Requirements depend on citizenship and age. Check the official guidance before you travel: US CBP (entering the US) · CBSA (entering Canada) · Live border wait times
